The Campbell Castle in Riverside

Saturday, Sept. 29 • 6 to 9 p.m. • 1155 N. River Blvd
Hosts: Mr. Michael Heaston & Mrs. Alice Smith

Cattle baron Col. Burton Harvey “Barbecue” Campbell ordered his residence built on the bank of the Little Arkansas after moving to Wichita from Texas. Completed in 1888, his home rivaled all others as the only one designed after a Scottish castle.

19th Century cocktails and spirits are served as Larry Hatteberg interviews Jack “Hatman” Kellogg, resident expert on the Campbell Family and their Castle. Dinner is created by writer and former “Food Editor” of the Wichita Eagle, Joe Stumpe, and inspired by the recipes of Mrs. Campbell. A string quartet performs music from the 1880s as we dine.
