The Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum is celebrating two special birthdays on Saturday, July 25th — the 145th anniversary of the founding of Wichita and the 125th anniversary of Wichita’s Original City Hall, now home to the Historical Museum.
Wichita was officially born July 21, 1870. Twenty years later, a grand ceremony was held on July 4, 1890 to celebrate the laying of the City Hall cornerstone. Beneath the cornerstone was a time capsule, opened 100 years later in celebration of the building’s Centennial, the contents will be on temporary exhibit for the first time in 25 years.
See more of Wichita’s remarkable history wandering the four floors of the Museum’s exhibits and enjoy special tours, crafts, activities and refreshments.
Admission is free to those individuals and small groups bringing a Birthday Card!
