Celebrate the release of the Museum’s book, A Spell Created, published to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Wichita and Sedgwick County. The book, unlike any other, offers a vivid illustrated history of our exceptional community.
The book’s author, Dr. Judith Heberling, former curator at the Museum, worked directly with the Museum’s current curator, Jami Frazier Tracy. Together they developed the content of the book based on the Museum’s permanent collection of images and artifacts. The firm charged with the book’s design and production is award-winning Lucia/Marquand, who have designed exceptional books for more than 250 museums worldwide. The book itself is 360 pages, hardbound, large format, full color, featuring over 425 images accompanied by scholarly text and fully indexed. Printing was limited to 2020 copies.
The book cost is $95, available through the Museum Gift Shop. All proceeds from the sale of the book benefit the Museum. The Museum is grateful to the Charles and Joanne McIlwaine Foundation, the Ross Foundation, and contributors to the Museum’s Memorial Fund for their support, making this publishing initiative possible.
The release of this landmark publication is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, December 11, from 3-5 pm with special remarks scheduled at 4pm.
