National History Day – District 6 Contest

History Day is a year-long learning opportunity for students in grades six through twelve. It offers students the opportunity to explore topics that interest them. Students conduct research using primary and secondary resources and then analyze the information in light of an overarching historical theme or question.

For teachers, it offers practical models for integrating Common Core standards in the classroom that improve test scores on reading, math, and science assessments and prepare students for college-level work. See the KHD brochure for additional information.

Wichita is located in Kansas District 6. District winners will then move on to the State competition and finally Nationals.

The District 6 competition is held at Friends University. For more information, or to register your student go to: http://www.kansashistoryday.org/ or email the coordinators at kansashistoryday@gmail.com.
